Because Your Apartment Can’t Marie Kondo Itself!

With temps rising, it’s safe to say we all get the urge to pull back the blinds and open the windows just a little. This time of year brings more daylight in the afternoon, which is a welcome change from the winter months. You may notice, however, that the light shining into your apartment might pick up on a few layers of dust throughout your surfaces. Before we all head outside for the next few months, let’s make sure that our living space is fresh and clean, too!

Here are some spring cleaning tips that you might find helpful.

BEDROOM:

  • flip your mattress & vacuum both sides
  • wash all of your bed linens, including pillow protectors & duvet covers
  • wrangle dust bunnies from under the bed & tables
  • declutter your closet & make a donation pile

BATHROOM:

  • scrub down bathroom shower and fixers (we love Scrub Daddy Power Paste !)
  • run bathroom vent/fan whenever you shower
  • dust linen shelves & give everything a fresh wash & fold

KITCHEN:

  • make a vinegar/baking soda solution & apply to baked-on food particles in microwave
  • turn on the self-cleaning function on the stove
  • remove & wash refridgerator drawers
  • wipe down all cabinet surfaces & remove crumbs
  • add 1 cup white vinegar & 1 teaspoon baking soda to garbage disposal & let sit for an hour. Run disposal after adding ice & a few fresh lemon slices down the drain.

GENERAL LIVING AREA:

  • dust off all air conditioning units, vents, baseboards
  • take note of outside temps & lower the heat accordingly
  • clean your windows & crack them open to let in the fresh air
